Wanting more
I have been around movement and sports all my life, finishing my formal athletic career in track and field. After multiple years in physical therapy for various injuries, I thought "yeah, this is what I want to do!". As I progressed through my undergraduate degree, I noticed that none of the T's had exactly what I wanted (AT's, OT's, PT's, CPT's), and honestly that made me panic. If I didn't want to go down one of these predetermined paths, where was I supposed to go? While I was trying to navigate my confusion, I got certified as a personal trainer and started training while I was getting my master's and now PhD. That's when it started to click. I was motivating and empowering my clients to conquer their physical goals, but started noticing they were coming in telling me how they were winning in other aspects of their life. Sleep, nutrition, recovery, business success, happiness levels, the list goes on. They showed me that what they were learning in the gym was transferring to life, and that's when I found my more.
There's more than just what you can do in the gym or on the court. There's more than just what you eat in a day. There's more to sleep and recovery than simply how many hours a night you get. All of these pieces work in unison for our performance.
Movement is important. Well-being is important. Health and wealth is important. The key to all of these is finding ways that make sense for you. In a sea of information, I wanted to create a space that is safe, informative with quality knowledge, and most importantly, actionable.
